So, last week we had to read about transgenders and intersex
student athletes. I found this reading in particular very interesting. Looking
back at my school days I've noticed how how sports changed. In elementary there
were boy and girls teams (rough play with the other gender was a no no). Once
you got to middle school some schools in my hometown had unisex teams, playing
other teams in which might have been unisex as well, or all boys. Once you got
to high school though the game changed. there was a strict boys and girls. Then
you have teams based on skill/size (depending on the sport). During these
school years though no one would have know whether or not an athlete was
transgendered or intersex. But when you come to college, and pro sports there's
all of these tests that have to be done to make sure. I dont really think its
fair that the transgendered/intersex get looked upon differently. Obviously
they're of the opposite sex in their mind and their body has changed/is
changing to the match. Why make them feel like they’re not what they really
are? A transgendered woman should be able to play on a women's team against other women with no one thinking that she's going to be stronger, or its not a fair match. When the person converts so does their body.
I’m a big media person now. And someone who really caught my
eye and is big in social media now is a woman by the name of Amiyah Scott. Born
Arther Scott, Amiyah transformed into the beautiful woman she is today at the
age of 17. She’s very open with previously being a boy and its honestly an
inspiration. If only society was more accepting with this type of life. More people would be able to do what they want to do in the world like play pro, perform in the Olympics, anything they want to do.
